Blister Help

Postby dzrtbny on Mon Jun 07, 2010 9:56 pm

OK guys I need your expertise. I know this topic has probably been discussed before but if anyone has any quick remedies on how to heal up blistered hands by Friday, I would sooo appreciate it!!
I rarely get blisters in the desert but this motocross thing has demolished my hands and I could hardly hold on to the bike on Sunday. I wrapped them last night and put neosporin on the deep open wounds and left the ones with skin on them uncovered. I did find some palm protectors from Risk Racing and am praying they will be here by Friday. Soooo any help or ideas is welcome and appreciated as long as no one suggets me peeing on my hand

Thanks in advance!!

Renee,

There is not to much I know of that will heal them fast but you can go to rite aid and try some mole skin, it comes in small sheets and sticks to your skin. It works unless your palms sweat, then it just comes right off. Actually those glove liners work pretty good, they are made out of kevlar and are very thin (threat has them in stock) unfortunately if you already have blisters it's still gonna hurt. I have a couple pairs of the Risk palm protectors, they work good for blisters but gave me arm pump. If you dont get yours in time you let me know I have a spare set in the bag!

Not too much help am I !

Renee, be sure to tape your hands this weekend. Trust me it will help. When I first got back into racing, my sensitive hands would get blisters all the time. Tape worked well, and even better when coupled with Moose glove liners.

Renee as you've been told not much you can do...Taping works good, glove liners also help, you'll find that some of it is you want to fill that extra space in your gloves. That is one of the reasons tape or liners work so well. I know some that run pads like what you use when you are doing archery, those too help some as I said it fills the space in your glove adding padding and reducing the slipage that can happen. So making your glove fit a bit tighter will help you out, just do not tighten then at the wrist as that can affect arm pump, this is more about your fingers and palms... That said also try to stay a little looser and not hold on for dear life  It will all work out and best of luck on Saturday!!

I've been battling this my whole life. Duct tape mole skin on your high friction/wounded areas and wear palm savers on top of that inside your gloves. You need to duct tape or something strong like this otherwise the mole skin will not stay on it's own. That should be good enough to get you through any situation. Thats basically 4 layers.

No joke,
Since you need those healed up quick this is what to do. Mix 1 cup epsom salt with 1 gallon of warm water and soak for 15 min 3 X the first day, morning-noon-night. Friday do the same but with pure evaporated sea salt...below is what i prefer. Might sting a little but dry's a blister out quick. I have never got a blister from riding or racing, only from a rough work week and this work's great every time to get my hand's ready for racing on sunday's. Wrap your hand or tape on saturday but until then let the blister breath and air out. Take it or leave it.....good luck.
